From: Office of Public Interest/Public Service Law and Careers Date: September 23, 2021 Subject: DC Externship, Drop-Ins, CLS Fellowship Deadlines
Learn about the Externship on the Federal Government--Semester in Washington, DC, which allows students to earn academic credit while working full-time within federal government law offices or Washington, DC-based nonprofits. The externship is open to 3Ls in the fall and 2Ls and 3Ls in the spring.
These in-person drop-in hours are for 1Ls only. SJI advisers are available to meet with 1Ls about career questions and advise on resumes and cover letters. No appointment needed. We're in William & June Warren Hall, 1125 Amsterdam Avenue, 8th Floor.
Module 3: Crafting Your Cover Letter
Public interest and government employers often rely more on cover letters than resumes to assess candidates, so a thoughtful and well-written cover letter is essential.
Module 4: Interviewing
Watch sample mock interviews for summer internships, followed by valuable discussion. Learn from interviewers why they asked certain questions and what they were looking for in response.
You must complete these programs before you can sign up for an advising appointment.
