Dean Lester Lobby Breakfast - Tues. Sept. 20, 8:30-9:30 a.m. in WJW Lobby. Chat with Dean Gillian Lester while grabbing breakfast on your way to class or to study.

SCOTUS Roundup - Weds. Sept. 21, 12:10-1:10 p.m. in JG 104. Professors Gillian Metzger, Katherine Franke, Michael Gerrard, and Fred Smith will discuss key Supreme Court decisions from the past term year, with a look ahead at what to expect in Oct. Term 2022. This discussion will be moderated by Vice Dean of Intellectual Life Kathryn Judge and Dean Gillian Lester will offer opening remarks. Lunch will be served on a first come first served basis. Skills & Strategies: Briefing Cases - Thurs. Sept. 22, 12:10-1:10 p.m. in JG 105. This session will be an opportunity to gain some insights on how to read and brief cases efficiently and effectively. You will also have the opportunity to ask questions of your own. If you're feeling shy, feel free to pose a question or raise an issue while registering so that we can be sure to address it during the session! SignUp Link.

Amnesty Period -- Application Amendment Process and Character & Fitness for the Bar FormThe ABA requires approved law schools to inform students of the importance of determining applicable character, fitness, and other qualifications to practice law. Students are required to certify that their law school application is true, accurate, and complete. Please refer to the email sent to you with the subject: Amnesty Period -- Application Amendment Process and Character & Fitness for the Bar. If you need to make an amendment, contact New York City’s Lawyer Assistance Program (LAP) for advice.

Judicial Clerkships

Registering with Our Office/Access to Courseworks Page: If you are interested in learning about clerkships this year, please register in Symplicity as “Clerkship Search Active.” After signing on to Symplicity, click on the “Clerkships” menu on the far left and then select the “Registration” tab. On the next screen, under “Clerkship Search Active” select the “Yes” radio button and click submit. You do not need to complete the bottom portion of the screen at this time. Registration will provide you with access to OJC's Courseworks page, which contains many helpful resources, including our Alumni Law Clerk Directory and event recordings. The Courseworks materials will be updated over the course of the year in conjunction with programs and as the clerkship process progresses.

Insurance 101: A Workshop on Student Health Insurance: This brief 20-minute workshop is geared toward helping you better understand your insurance plan and how to make the most of it. We will review all the basics so that you can be confident in understanding and utilizing your coverage under the Columbia Student Health Insurance Plan. We will also have a Q&A following the presentation. Click the times on the left panel to register. Questions are encouraged!
