Beyond the Casebook Series Presents: Defending Communities Against Environmental Hazards - Wed. Mar. 22, 12:10-1:10 p.m. in JG 103. Prof. Gerrard spent many years practicing environmental law in law firms, often representing community groups. Prof. Pannu has assisted community groups in a much different kind of setting -- directing law clinics. They will discuss the different modes of representation, and the similarities and contrasts in legal theories, strategies, and client relations. Character & Fitness and Lawyer Wellness - Wed. Mar. 22, 12:10-1:10 p.m. in JG 105. In this session, representatives from New York City's Lawyer Assistance Program will discuss mental health, well-being, and substance abuse. You will learn of some real-life examples from an attorney with LAP, and discuss the Character and Fitness portion of the New York State Bar Admission application. The Exam Reschedule Request form is now open. The form closes on Mon. Mar. 27 at 5:00 p.m. More information is on the Law School’s rescheduling policies under the second accordion: Rescheduling a Law School Examination.

Mendez V. Westminster: The Reenactment - Thur. Mar. 23, 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the SDNY Courthouse (500 Pearl St.) or Virtual. The Latino Judges Association, CLS LALSA, and St. John's Law School will host a live reenactment of the historic civil rights decision, Mendez v. Westminster, a 1947 decision from the Ninth Circuit that found separate schools for Mexican American and Chicano children in California public schools was a violation of the Fourteenth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. The 2023 Edition of The Geneva Challenge: This project funded by Swiss Ambassador Jenö Staehelin aims to encourage interdisciplinary problem-solving analysis among master students on advancing human development within the scope of a relevant topic. This year, students are invited to develop analysis-based proposals on "The Challenges of Loneliness." The Geneva Challenge 2023 will distribute 25’000 CHF. Registration to participate closes on Sun. Apr. 23 and submissions are due Fri. July 14. Click here for more information and to apply.
