America on Fire - Thur. March 31, 12:10- 1:10 p.m. in JG 103.  A conversation with Prof. Elizabeth Hinton and Prof. Sarah Seo on Prof. Hinton's newest book, America on Fire: The Untold History of Police Violence and Black Rebellion Since the 1960s. What began in spring 2020 as local protests in response to the killing of George Floyd by Minneapolis police quickly exploded into a massive nationwide movement. To many observers, the protests appeared to be without precedent in their scale and persistence. Yet, as the acclaimed historian Hinton demonstrates in America on Fire, the events of 2020 had clear precursors—and any attempt to understand our current crisis requires a reckoning with the recent past.

Judicial Clerkships


CLWA Judicial Speaker Series: Judge Florence Pan (co-sponsored by APALSA & OJC) - Weds. March 30th - 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Zoom.
A virtual discussion with Judge Florence Pan of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia. Judge Pan will discuss her path to the bench, her process for choosing clerks, her approach to ensuring diversity and equity in chambers, and the qualities she looks for in clerkship applicants. The event will begin with a brief overview of the Judge's career followed by a Q+A portion. You can RSVP and submit questions to the judge here.

Graduating Students! Audition to SING or SIGN at University Commencement. The deadline to submit your audition video is Friday, April 1, by 12:00 p.m. 
Round 1: Send your audition video to sing or sign at University Commencement.
Round 2: The Commencement Office will be conducting callbacks in April. If selected, additional details will be provided to you for a second audition. Final Results: The performer(s) will be confirmed by the end of April.

- If you plan on taking the July 2022 NYS Bar exam, your application must be filed between April 1 and April 30, 2022. Please note that there are no provisions for late filing.

 		 DPLI Social Impact Challenge: The DPLI Social Impact Challenge is a one-day in-person event aimed at developing leadership skills and promoting innovation by CLS students. During the course of the day, students will divide into "action incubators" in order to develop a solution to an issue at the Law School within a budget of $1,000. The groups will then present their proposed solutions to a panel of judges led by Dean Gillian Lester, Dean of the Faculty of Law and Lucy G. Moses Professor of Law and Professor James S. Liebman, Simon H. Rifkind Professor of Law and Founder of the Center for Public Research and Leadership (CPRL). The winning group will receive the funds to implement their solution within the Law School in the following week. Please register here by Monday, April 4, at 5:00 p.m. Breakfast, lunch, and beverages will be provided.
