Deadline to Complete: This Friday, Nov. 5

All new Columbia students are required to complete both the Sexual Respect Initiative and the Inclusion and Belonging Initiaive modules by Fri. Nov. 5. If you do not complete your requirements by Nov. 5, a registration hold will be placed on your account, which could impact your Pre-registration.

The Law School is promoting a series of events to help you satisfy your Sexual Respect Initiative requirement. You can find the series' flyer here.

Participating in the Task Force on Inclusion & Belonging's dialogue-based Campus Conversations is one way in which you can satisfy the Inclusion and Belonging requirement.

These modules ask Columbia students what it means to belong to this community and offer new skills for creating an inclusive campus culture. Check out CCI's website for the full schedule of workshops and other options. Required for new students; all students are welcome to participate.

- Anti-Racism Coordinating Committee Forum - Weds. 11/10, 12:10 p.m. -
Join Dean Lester and the other members of the Anti-Racism Coordinating Committee for a discussion about the Committee's work this year. Q&A to follow. This event is co-sponsored by the Office of Student Services; the Vice-Dean of Intellectual Life; and the Anti-Racism Coordinating Committee.

- Save the Date: Dean's Meet Up - Mon. Nov. 22, 12:10 p.m. - Please join Dean Gillian Lester for this informal forum open to all law students, where Dean Lester will share updates and answer questions that you may have. Feel free to submit a question using this form. 

- DOROT's Thanksgiving Meal Delivery Program brings hundreds of older adults and volunteers together to share warmth and companionship. On Nov. 21-22 in Manhattan or Westchester, volunteers will pick up a Thanksgiving meal, deliver the meal to an isolated older adult, and connect with them by phone for a 20-30-minute call. Register here

- American College of Consumer Financial Services Lawyers Annual Writing Competition - Eligible papers include publishable articles, substantial book reviews, or book chapters; books; and student case note or comment.  Awards include a cash payment ($1,500-$5,000), a certificate or other token of recognition, and travel expenses to attend the College’s annual dinner. - Update: Your Senators (who are doing a fabulous job!) shared your recent feedback with us. We are working with Registration Services and other offices on your requests, including clarity on which Spring 2022 courses will meet the LLM Writing Project requirement, the suggestion for a Spring Seminar in Banking and Finance Law, a Deals Workshop focused on Corporate Finance and a Venture Capital & Tech course, and increased capacity for in-demand seminars. We will be sure to share updates as they become available.

- Tues. Nov. 2 Election Day - No Classes No classes will be held on 11/2.

- Weds. Nov. 3 Administrative Tuesday - Law School classes will be held on a Tuesday schedule on 11/3.

- Professional Responsibility Direct Registration - Thurs. Nov. 4 at noon EDT - Mon., Nov. 8 at noon EST via LawNet. If you were registered for a Spring 2022 PR class through the lottery and now wish to register for a different Spring 2022 PR class, you will have to email Registration Services by no later than 3 p.m. on Fri. Nov. 5 to remove the current class from your registration so that you can add a new class.

It’s Time to Get Your Flu Shot


We have seen how effective vaccination is in protecting us from viruses such as COVID-19. To help keep Columbia healthy, please get your annual influenza (flu) vaccine. All students are required to get the flu vaccine by November 30, 2021, either through Columbia Health or by providing documentation of their vaccination in the Patient Portal.

The on-demand, point-to-point Public Safety Evening Shuttle by Via has replaced the escort service at the Morningside campus. Additionally, the Intercampus Shuttle runs Monday to Saturday, excluding University holidays.

Back-up Child Care

Full-time enrolled Law School students can receive up to 60 hours of back-up care per academic year through Bright Horizons.

Child Care & Schooling Services

Care for adults, children, or yourself in situations when normal care arrangements are interrupted or when short-term care is required.

Lawyers Assistance Program

A free, confidential service available to law students and their family members in NYC who are struggling with alcohol or drug abuse, depression, anxiety and stress, as well as other addictions and mental health issues. LAP’s confidential hotline is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week: 212.302.5787.
