Student Services will be handing out vouchers for a free beverage from Scholastic [please note the location change]. Please make sure to show a Student Services member your completed evaluations screenshot or make it available on your phone when collecting your voucher.
Today!12:00 noon-2:00 p.m. in WJW Feldberg Space Join OJC in celebrating the confirmation of the Honorable Ketanji Brown Jackson to serve as the 116th Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States. 116 red velvet cupcakes and other treats will be on hand for you to enjoy! Please also take a moment to write a note to Associate Justice-Designate Brown Jackson, congratulating her on her historic confirmation and wishing her well as she embarks on this next chapter of her already trailblazing career. OJC will then mail all notes from the CLS community to warmly welcome her to the Court when she takes her oath of office later this summer.

- Introducing New Writing Center Instructor: Misti Duvall Writing Specialist: Misti Duvall is a graduate of CLS, where she was a Stone Scholar, Articles Editor for the Columbia Journal of Environmental Law, and Teaching Assistant in the Environmental Law Clinic. After receiving her JD from CLS in 2006, she spent a decade practicing environmental law with non-profit organizations in New York, Washington, DC, and Southeast Asia. She then shifted her focus from legal practice to writing and teaching, including several years working with prospective law students. Misti also holds an MFA in Creative Writing from City College of New York and a BA in Psychology and Sociology from the University of Tennessee. If interested in a Writing Specialist consultation with Misti, please email her directly.
- Davis Polk Leadership Initiative (DPLI) Survey: DPLI would really appreciate it if you could take this survey about your views on leadership opportunities at CLS, what skills you have developed over the year, and what additional opportunities you would like to see. This survey will be used to inform, among other things, the potential creation of a leadership certificate program at CLS, under which you can participate in a leadership curriculum and obtain a certificate that will communicate your competencies to future employers. Please complete the survey by Fri. April 29. We are enormously grateful for your time and feedback, and we thank you for your participation.
- April is a big month for Sexual Violence Response (SVR) as it is Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM) and the Columbia Health is hosting events to support building a compassionate community of care at Columbia. - The 3rd edition of the NALSAR-UNHCR Public International Law Moot Court Competition, 2022, held virtually July 15-17. This competition continues to be conducted in collaboration with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) as our title sponsor and the Migration and Asylum Project (M.A.P.) as our Associate Partner. Democracy in Peril; Reckoning with Inequality, Disinformation, and Polarization: For many people, the events of January 6th, 2021 were a watershed. How have they affected faculty who work on democracy and constitutional order? Have their work and teaching changed? Do they see the responsibilities of the university differently? Where do we go from here? Professor Jed Purdy will moderate a discussion with Professors Olatunde Johnson (Jerome B. Financial & Child Care Financial Wellness Resources - Students experiencing unexpected financial need, including food and housing insecurity, may be eligible for additional assistance. To apply for emergency assistance, complete the funding request form.
Lawyers Assistance Program - A free, confidential service available to law students and their family members in NYC who are struggling with alcohol or drug abuse, depression, anxiety and stress, as well as other addictions and mental health issues.
