LCI: Relationship Between Congress and the Administrative State - Weds. Nov. 9, 12:10-1:10 p.m. in JG 106. Profs. Thomas Merrill and Gillian Metzger, will discuss one of the most important public law issues of the moment: the future of Chevron deference and what it means for administrative law. In his recently published book, The Chevron Doctrine: Its Rise and Fall, and the Future of the Administrative State, Prof. Merrill reviews the history and immense consequences of the Chevron doctrine and suggests a way forward. This is your chance to hear from two leading experts on why these developments matter and what's next for administrative law. Several renowned French lawyers, with various backgrounds including in law firms and in the public service, will discuss their ideas on how best to use the legal training received in the U.S. in the pursuit of rewarding careers. Presenting Yourself at an Interview (Private Sector) - Today, Nov. 7, 12:10-1:10 p.m. in JG 106. In this workshop, you will learn how to improve your networking skills and effectively communicate in person during an interview. Attendance is encouraged for all LLMs participating in the Nov. 14th and 16th Practice Interview Program. Warren Motley, the former Hiring Partner of Davis Polk, will walk you through the interview competencies employers consider when making hiring decisions. Bring your resume with you so you can make note of how best to demonstrate these key factors during an interview. Following Warren's presentation, Frantz Price will lead you in a mini practice of your skills.

- Writing Center Workshop: The fifth and final Writing Center LL.M./Upper-Year Workshop of the semester is now open for registration, info is below. The Writing Center hosts a series of workshops for LL.M. students throughout the fall semester. Each workshop is held in-person, at three separate times, and registration is required. Mastering the Bluebook: Crack open a Bluebook and practice your way to mastery. Limit 20 people.

No Straight Path: Strategies for Overcoming Setbacks and Finding Satisfaction and Success in the Law – Failed Bar Attempt(s), Job Rejection(s), and Bad Grade(s) Be Damned! In this program hosted by Fordham Law School, Jordana Alter Cofino and Ashley Menzies Babatunde will discuss overcoming setbacks and offer guidance for law students and recent graduates navigating their legal careers. Ashley will share her personal struggle with the bar exam and unpack some of the lessons learned along the way, including practical tips for overcoming career setbacks. They will also discuss reining in perfectionism and redefining self-worth and how to cultivate a growth mindset to achieve well-being and success as an attorney. Register here.
