CLS Artist-In-Residence Short Film Series - Thurs. Sept. 29, 5:00-7:00 p.m. in JG 101. This series of film screenings and conversations will expose students, faculty, and staff to short films that raise important questions about our culture, public policy and legal system, as well as the role lawyers and legal experts play in helping us respond to society's most pressing challenges. The screenings will be followed by a conversation facilitated by CLS Artist-In-Residence Bayeté Ross Smith and a member of the CLS faculty. Light refreshments will be served. Registering with Our Office/Access to Courseworks Page: If you are interested in learning about clerkships this year, please register in Symplicity as “Clerkship Search Active.” After signing on to Symplicity, click on the “Clerkships” menu on the far left. On the page, scroll down to the field “Clerkship Search Active” select the “Yes” radio button and click submit. You do not need to complete the bottom portion of the screen at this time. Registration will provide you with access to OJC's Courseworks page, which contains many helpful resources, including our Alumni Law Clerk Directory and event recordings. The Courseworks materials will be updated over the course of the year in conjunction with programs and as the clerkship process progresses.
Resume Review: Please submit your draft Columbia-formatted private sector resume for OCS review through our Private Sector Resume Review Portal by October 14th. You will need a CLS-style US resume to apply for job postings, conduct networking efforts, and to participate in the January Interview Program. Please review the OCS "Presenting Yourself in Writing Guide", Resume Templates, and "Presenting Yourself in Writing Workshop" video, all available Symplicity.

Mandatory Training Alert: The Columbia Community Citizenship Initiative (CCI) is launching today. You will receive an email from Dennis Mitchell (Office of University Life) with details. You are required to complete two additional trainings among many options (one in Sexual Respect and one in Inclusion & Belonging). The deadline to meet both components isFri. Nov. 4. These are separate from the Pre-Orientation tutorials, which you should have already completed. If you have questions, please contact your OGP advisor!

Situational Awareness Training - Mon. Oct. 3, 4:00-5:00 p.m., Virtual.
Situational Awareness is a critical life skill, and entails being aware of where you are and to what is happening around you; being alert to potential threats to your health and safety and being cognizant of emergency exits and other paths to safety. The training is hosted by Columbia Public Safety team. OGP can attest that this is a very useful training! Sign up here.
"International Students Workshop" - Tues. Oct. 4 and Weds. Oct. 11, 1:30-3:00 p.m. This support group is currently accepting students interested in joining. The workshop will provide international students who are away from family, friends, and home an opportunity to support each other and build coping skills through this challenging time. To register, email py2120@cumc.columbia.edu or hc3390@cumc.columbia.edu with "INTERNATIONAL" in the subject line.

Financial & Child Care Financial Wellness Resources - Students experiencing unexpected financial need, including food and housing insecurity, may be eligible for additional assistance. To apply for emergency assistance, complete the funding request form.
Lawyers Assistance Program - A free, confidential service available to law students and their family members in NYC who are struggling with alcohol or drug abuse, depression, anxiety and stress, as well as other addictions and mental health issues.
