Reminder: Class of 2023 Public Interest Honorees Should RSVP for the Honors Reception
If you have been named a Class of 2023 Public Interest Honoree, we hope you will be able to attend the reception on Apr. 19, 6-8 p.m. at Faculty House. Please RSVP for the reception as soon as possible.
The Honors Reception is open by invitation only. To be named an honoree, you must be a Class of 2023 member (J.D. or LL.M.), have completed the opt-in questionairre, which was emailed to students on Mar. 10, and received an invitation to the reception. Hear from SJI advisers on how you can best use your time at the Law School so that you graduate ready to achieve your goals.
Each year, the Office of the Legal Adviser at the U.S. Department of State offers a summer internship for rising 3Ls. The application is due very early—usually in August after your 1L summer. At this session, you will learn about the application process from the person who has conducted the State Department's on-campus interviews in the past.
While we will primarily cover the summer internship program, we will also discuss term-time externships and postgraduate employment.
Come learn more about working in public defense! Chat with public defenders about their career paths, what their workdays look like, and all aspects of their specific offices including training, culture, and hiring.

Irell & Manella Prize
Awarded to a 1L whose outstanding leadership and good citizenship helped create a sense of community and engagement during the first year of law school. In addition to receiving a monetary award, the recipient will select a student organization to receive a monetary award. Apply by May 26.
Mindfulness and Racial/Social Justice Award
Open to J.D.s and LL.M.s. Includes a monetary prize and an invitation to share their thoughts at a CLS Mindfulness event or help plan a session on a topic or with a teacher of their choice. Apply by Apr. 19 at noon.
