- LCI: Russian Invasion of the Ukraine - March 2, 12:10-1:10 p.m. in JG 103 CLS professors will discuss the Russian invasion of the Ukraine. Check your email for additional details. Lunch will be served on a first-come, first served basis.
- Graduation Headshots/Portraits- March 8-10, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. in WJW Feldberg Lobby Lounge w/GradImages. No appointment needed. Payment is due only if you decide to purchase a photo.
- Graduation Fair - March 8-10, 11am – 7pm at the University Bookstore, Lerner Hall. Cap and gown fitting and ordering and graduation vendors (rings, announcements, diploma frames, etc.).
- The Brandeis Scholarship Fund is once again awarding three $5,000 Scholarships to qualified 2L or 3L Jewish Law Students who are attending any law school in New York City. Apply. Questions?
- The Exam Reschedule Request form is now open. The form closes on Thur. 3/10 at 3:00 p.m. (EST). You no longer need to fill out the form to reschedule same day and back to back exams. Our office now automatically makes those adjustments. However please email us if you do not want your same day and back to back exams rescheduled. Lawyers, Community, and Impact
This semester, the Law School is hosting a series of LCI events to discuss our country's criminal justice systems, the presence of structural racism in the application of criminal laws, and the important work that lawyers and community activists are undertaking to reform these systems.
- Lawyering with Movements: A Conversation with Soffiyah Elijah and Derecka Purnell- March 9, 12:10- 1:10 pm in JG 103 Soffiyah Elijah, Executive Director of Alliance of Families for Justice, and Derecka Purnell, CLS Scholar in Residence and author of Becoming Abolitionists: Police, Protests, and the Pursuit of Freedom will discuss lawyering with communities and movements to transform the justice system in New York City and the nation. Prof. Amber Baylor and Omavi Shukur, Practitioner-in-Residence at the Initiative for a Just Society, will co-moderate.
- America on Fire- March 31, 12:10 - 1:10 pm in JG 103 Prof. Elizabeth Hinton and Prof. Sarah Seo will discuss Prof. Hinton's newest book, America on Fire: The Untold History of Police Violence and Black Rebellion Since the 1960s. What began in spring 2020 as local protests in response to the killing of George Floyd by Minneapolis police quickly exploded into a massive nationwide movement. To many observers, the protests appeared to be without precedent in their scale and persistence. Yet the events of 2020 had clear precursors—and any attempt to understand our current crisis requires a reckoning with the recent past.
